As the nation’s leading advocate for youth financial literacy, the Jump$tart Coalition® is proud to conduct its sixth annual conference devoted specifically to PreK-12 classroom teachers of personal finance. This year’s event will take place November 8-10, 2014 at the Omni Hotel at California Plaza in Los Angeles.  

This conference, generously underwritten by Experian and Wells Fargo Foundation and supported by a variety of sponsors, will offer classroom educators an opportunity to see, learn about, and try educational resources that can be integrated immediately into current lesson plans and to attend informative workshops under three different strands:

  • Content/Curriculum
  • Personal Development “101” for those newer to this subject matter
  • Personal Development “AP” for those ready to tackle more advance content

The conference also offers teachers an opportunity to meet with the leaders from finance and education, and to network with colleagues from across the country. Teachers who participate in the entire conference will receive a certificate for 15 Professional Development Hours.


  • Outreach to Teachers. Partners, state coalitions, and friends, please share this conference information with your teacher lists, social media outlets, and others in your circles. Now that registration is open, educators need significant lead time to obtain approvals to attend conferences, so the sooner they get the word the better!   • Sponsor Teachers. Generous sponsors and underwriters have significantly subsidized the cost for teachers to participate in the Jump$tart National Educator Conference. Still, with tightened budgets affecting virtually everyone, even moderate costs preclude some from taking advantage of this opportunity. Jump$tart partners, state affiliates, and others can help personal finance teachers attend this conference, created especially for them, by sponsoring their participation in a variety of ways.   • Exhibitors. Educators continue to say that the Exhibit Hall is one of the most popular elements of the conference. The dedicated Exhibit Hall session offers the opportunity to share and discuss the financial education resources with teachers who are eager to use them the first day they return to the classroom!   • Conference Sponsors. To provide this professional development experience at a price that teachers and schools can afford, Jump$tart needs help from generous sponsors. All sponsors get a complimentary exhibit table and exhibitor registration as well as great visibility with educators and other stakeholders.   • Schedule is ALL New. The schedule does not follow the same pattern as in previous years; so, please review the program carefully.
  • Registration is open. Teacher registration will close October 24 or when the conference reaches capacity, whichever comes first.
  • Location. This is the first time the conference will be held on the west coast.
  • Timing. This year’s conference will run Saturday through Monday, taking advantage of the Veteran’s Day Holiday on Tuesday, November 11.
  • National Standards. Each registered participant will receive a printed copy of the 2015 edition of the National Standards in K-12 Personal Finance Education. Workshop sessions and materials presented at this conference will align with these national standards.
