WHO WE ARE:
GreenPath Debt Solutions is a nationwide, non-profit financial organization that assists consumers with credit card debt, housing debt and bankruptcy concerns. Its customized services and attainable solutions have been helping people achieve their financial goals since 1961.
Headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, GreenPath operates more than 60 branch offices in Michigan, New York, New Hampshire, Colorado, Florida, Texas, Vermont, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Arizona and Wyoming. GreenPath also delivers licensed services throughout the United States over the Internet and telephone.
The organization counseled more than 300,000 people in 2012 regarding their debt issues and housing concerns, and its team of more than 500 caring associates is college-educated, certified by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), and dedicated to providing confidential personal service.
GreenPath is a member of the NFCC, the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA) and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA). Its core purpose statement is “Through financial knowledge and expertise, we enable people to enjoy a better quality of life.” It is through our counseling and education resources that we are successfully fulfilling this purpose.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Financial Counseling: We start with a free, confidential 60-90 minute consultation. We discuss the individual’s financial situation, learn about their goals, and begin to put together a plan. The session is conducted in person or over the telephone.
- Debt Management Program: This program helps consumers pay off their debt faster by bringing accounts current, lowering interest rates and waiving late or over-limit fees. This means more of the payment goes toward reducing the debt.
- Housing Counseling: GreenPath is a HUD-approved housing counseling agency and a partner of the Homeownership Preservation Foundation. Our counselors deliver the highest quality assistance with homeownership and rental counseling.
- Bankruptcy Counseling: GreenPath is approved to provide bankruptcy counseling and education services, as required by law.
- Education: We conduct workshops in person and on the web. Our e-learning website, www.greenpath.org/university is full of free articles, videos, games, e-courses, calculators and other resources to teach money management skills.
WHAT’S NEW:
- Webinar Wednesdays: Each week, GreenPath counselors deliver information on topics relating to personal financial management, using a webinar format. Providing live classes on the web allows us flexibility in content and focus. According to the participants, the ability to address specific questions, in real time, has proved to be of great value.
- E-Learning: GreenPath University (www.greenpath.org/university) exists to provide visitors with a high-quality, user-friendly, financial education website. The content on this site has been specifically chosen by GreenPath financial counselors to ensure access to the most up-to-date money management resources in the industry – where and when it is needed. We strive to make our content current and relevant to the needs of our clients.
- Workshops: Conducting more than 750 face to face workshops in 2012, GreenPath was able to reach and teach 14,207 people about good money management practices.
- Community Involvement: GreenPath actively participates in many coalitions and initiatives that have improving financial literacy as the goal. We work with employers, Employee Assistance Programs, churches, schools, social service and community organizations by providing knowledge, material and tools to the people they serve.
