Greater Washington Jumpstart Coalition

The Greater Washington Jump$tart Coalition is comprised of more than 50 individuals and organizations representing business, non-profit, education, and government entities. Formed in 2006, the Greater Washington Jump$tart Coalition (www.gwjumpstart.org) is an affiliate of the national Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.(www.jumpstart.org).

Passionate in our belief that teaching personal finance to young people in schools is crucial, the Greater Washington Jump$tart Coalition’s mission is to collaborate and support personal financial literacy of pre-kindergarten through college students in the Greater Washington region. Our dedicated partners contribute time, expertise and educational resources that educators can integrate into their curriculum. With great appreciation, we give recognition to educators for their financial literacy efforts in schools.

We envision a generation of financially capable citizens.

Initiatives are aligned with our mission:

  • Partner in schools, communities, and youth programs to conduct and/or support financial literacy
  • Support parent involvement programs on teaching financial literacy
  • Sponsor professional development events for PreK-12 classroom educators
  • Raise public awareness about the need for financial literacy and education in school
  • Share educational resources offered through partners and other trusted sources
  • Provide networking to share resources, expertise, and a channel to form other partnerships
