Financial Literacy Month

Overview

The Jump$tart Coalition is the original promoter of April as Financial Literacy Month, which evolved from Youth Financial Literacy Day, introduced by the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) nearly two decades ago as an activity of its High School Financial Planning Program. NEFE turned Financial Literacy Day over to the Jump$tart Coalition to promote among its network of national partners and state coalitions. Jump$tart Coalition expanded the day and in 2000, when it began promoting April as Financial Literacy for Youth Month and later, simply Financial Literacy Month. More on #FLM2017.

For Jump$tart Coalition, the month features two key events: Financial Literacy Day on Capitol Hill and Jump$tart's Annual Awards Dinner.

Hill Day

Exhibitor Registration is now open for Financial Literacy Day on Capitol Hill, scheduled for Friday, April 28, 2017, from 12-3 p.m. in Rooms 2043-2045 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

Financial Literacy Day on Capitol Hill was introduced in 2003, and over the years, has become known informally as “Hill Day.”  What began as a small gathering became a public event attracting hundreds of participants. The location of the event alternates between an office location on the House of Representatives side and the Senate side of Capitol Hill.
