CentSai is the brainchild of Doria Lavagnino and Arindam Nag, who both left their journalism careers to jump headfirst into developing this platform. There is a ton of personal finance information out there, yet financial literacy remains a huge problem in the United States.

According to the 2012 National Financial Capability Study, only 24 percent of millennials demonstrate basic financial knowledge.  Learning to manage money and finances can be intimidating. CentSai – a play on the Japanese word sensei, or teacher – makes it easier with our financial wellness community.

We think part of the problem is a distrust of the status quo and a mistaken belief that finance is either too hard or not necessary to learn. We want to change that.  CentSai is essentially a gathering of storytellers. People can learn and teach about money issues through personal stories. What better way is there to understand money than through the successes and misadventures of others?

While designed initially for millenials, a wider audience comes to CentSai and finds finance approachable and jargon-free.  Our blogs, videos, podcasts and more explain finance in an easy-to-understand way. Our team of CentSai’s (what we call our bloggers, vloggers, podcasters, experts and the like) live all across the globe. We share stories from all walks of life. We’re sure you’ll find what’s relatable to you.

CentSaiAdulting.com, a site designed for teens, was also launched in 2016.  We continue to expand the content on this site, including interactive content such as quizzes and polls, and host an interactive personal finance curriculum.  CentSai.com also includes an Experts platform which allows our audience to find financial professionals if they need one, and allows the professionals to share their expertise in a separate collection of blogs.  New developments for 2017 will include a site designed specifically for Financial Literacy/Wellness educators at all levels ... so stay tuned!
