09/02/2016 - JSNEC16

As the nation’s leading advocate for youth financial literacy, the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy® is proud to conduct its eighth annual National Educator Conference (#JSNEC16) devoted specifically to PreK-12 classroom teachers of personal finance. This year’s event will take place Nov. 5-7 at the InterContinental Dallas Hotel in Addison, Texas. The price to attend is $425, which includes a two-night stay and conference meals, for classroom educators and $575 for a limited number of other attendees. Attendees must cover and arrange their own transportation.

The conference, generously underwritten by Experian and the Wells Fargo Foundation, and supported by dozens of sponsors, will offer classroom educators an opportunity to see, learn about, and try educational resources that can be integrated immediately into current lesson plans.
This year’s conference features general sessions that address:

  • Behavioral economics,
  • What the election means for financial services,
  • Creating a lesson plan for tomorrow’s classroom, and
  • Financing the Future.
In addition, #JSNEC16 will offer classroom educators an opportunity to attend breakout sessions such as:
  • Elementary School Resources;
  • Ask the Experts on Credit, Auto Buying vs. Leasing and Student Loans;
  • Is Robo-Investing for Me?;
  • Expanding Your Classroom as a Financial Counselor;
  • Federal Reserve Resources; and
  • Taking the Risk Out of Insurance.
Further, focused sessions will introduce teachers to some of our partner curricula including:
  • Hands on Banking®,
  • MoneySKILL®,
  • Stock Market Game®,
  • Take Charge Today®,
  • Bank on It®, and
  • High School Financial Planning Program®.
  • Exhibitors. Educators continue to say that the Exhibit Hall is one of the most popular elements of the conference.   The dedicated Exhibit Hall session offers the opportunity to share and discuss financial education resources with teachers who are eager to use them the first day they return to the classroom! Visitjumpstart.org/NEC16 for more details.
  • Sponsors. To provide this professional development experience at a price that teachers and schools can afford, Jump$tart needs help from generous sponsors.  All sponsors get a complimentary exhibit table and exhibitor registration as well as great visibility with educators and stakeholders.  Sponsors are needed at a variety of levels, starting at just $2,000.  Visitjumpstart.org/NEC16 for more details.
  • Outreach to Teachers. Partners, state coalitions, and friends, please share this conference information with your teacher lists, social media outlets, and others in your circles.  Once registration opens, educators need significant lead time to obtain approvals to attend conferences, so the sooner they get the word the better!
Your commitment to support the professional development for teachers of personal finance in any or all of these ways helps us make a difference for teachers across the country.  To become a sponsor, exhibitor or to help promote this event among your teacher constituents, please visit our conference web page or contact Turn on JavaScript!, right away.  Exhibit space and some sponsorship opportunities are limited.
