TIAA-CREF

WHAT WE DO:

TIAA-CREF is a national financial services organization and the leading provider of retirement services in the academic, research, medical and cultural fields. With more than $420 billion in combined assets under management and 3.2 million participants, TIAA-CREF is listed as a Fortune 100 company. TIAA-CREF is committed to a long-term approach to investing, providing guidance tailored to the unique needs of its investors and offering products with among the lowest expenses in the industry.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Understanding its not-for-profit heritage and commitment to serving its community, TIAA-CREF supports financial literacy through a number of programs such as its signature program - TIAA-CREF Courage to Succeed. This program began in New York and has expanded to include schools in Charlotte and Denver.

Employees in these locations serve as TIAA-CREF Fellows and are trained to provide financial literacy and business skills to students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Fellows teach classes for one hour every week as a partnership with schools near TIAA-CREF offices. The curriculum has been designed to support our program requirements and is provided by the Young Americans Center for Financial Education, which is another Jump$tart partner.

WHAT WE NEED:

TIAA-CREF is considering adding components to the TIAA-CREF Courage to Succeed Program that will allow the organization to expand to high school and college students. This will help grow the program beyond middle school and create other opportunities for youth to understand the value that financial education can provide as they begin to enter the workforce.
