WHAT WE DO

Encore Capital Group is an international specialty finance company with operations in 14 countries. Our subsidiaries purchase portfolios of consumer receivables from major banks, credit unions and utility providers, and partner with individuals as they repay their obligations and work toward financial recovery. Encore Capital Group seeks to develop long-term, collaborative social solutions that create a collective benefit for the communities in which we live and work for our employees, our shareholders and our company.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Philanthropic support to nonprofits in our communities that offer a path to dignity and financial self-sufficiency by providing education opportunities, job skills training and basic needs services such as affordable housing and access to food. Since the launch of our Corporate Social Responsibility program in 2013, Encore has donated more than $800,000 globally.
  • Support of our workforce in volunteering their time and talents to organizations in need. Our employees have provided more than  9,000 hours of community service globally and Encore has complemented these efforts through volunteer grants and matching financial donations up to $2,500 per employee annually.
  • Creation of a first-of-its-kind for the debt collection industry Community College Scholarship program, which has supported more than 40 community colleges across the United States by awarding $1,000 scholarships to help deserving students achieve their degree and secure a more stable financial future.
  • Continuation of our engagement as a national partner with Jump$tart, a coalition of organizations advocating for financial literacy standards for K-12 students, so that everyone starts their financial life with a baseline of economic skills.

WHAT WE NEED

In 2013, Encore Capital launched our global Corporate Social Responsibility program, which demonstrates our company’s commitment to support our employees and communities through volunteerism, financial donations and strategic nonprofit partnerships. We are looking to build awareness of our initiatives and expand the reach and distribution of our program information.

WHAT’S NEW

The Encore College Community Scholarship Program is now in its second year and has supported 43 community colleges across the U.S. by awarding $1,000 scholarships to 248 deserving community college students. The goal of this program is to reduce the burden of debt for the most financially vulnerable students to make a college degree an attainable goal. “Encore’s Community College Scholarship Program is making a significant difference in the lives of our students,” said Anne Zacovic, Director of Resource Development at San Diego Mesa College. “These scholarships are invaluable to our students. Not only are their course fees and books covered, the scholarships often subsidize their living expensed during the academic year.  They are able to devote more time to their studies, and their futures.”
