WHAT WE DO:

Founded in 1995, ACA International Education Foundation (ACAEF) is the philanthropic arm of ACA International, the association of credit and collection professionals. ACAEF exists to promote the financial literacy and its efforts focus primarily on raising awareness of AskDoctorDebt.com.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Ask Doctor Debt

AskDoctorDebt.com is an important resource created by ACA members in both English and Spanish to help consumers find straightforward and reliable answers to their debt collection questions. Visitors are not asked to register, provide any personal information or required to pay to use the variety of services it offers. With the multitude of scams and misleading or false information easily available to consumers at the click of a mouse, AskDoctorDebt.com gives consumers a tool they can trust without fear of gimmicks or being ripped off.

Since its 2009 launch, AskDoctorDebt.com has welcomed approximately 100,000 visitors worldwide and has answered more than 350 consumer-generated questions, which are then posted on the Web site.

Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship

The Foundation annually awards the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship to three students, children of professionals working in the debt collection industry who are pursuing post-secondary education at a college/university, trade school or other accredited educational program. For more information on the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship visit www.acainternational.org/foundation.

WHAT WE NEED:

The primary focus of ACAEF is to broaden the efforts at raising awareness of AskDoctorDebt.com.  Its greatest need is assistance by members of the Jump$tart Coalition® and others to refer consumers they reach to this tremendous—but underutilized—consumer resource.

WHAT’S NEW:

Ask Doctor Debt

Since last fall, staff has begun to answer almost all consumer questions received and posting them to the front page of Ask Doctor Debt. Since September 2010, staff has posted more than 350 questions/answers to the Web site. Previously, questions were received but if it was redundant to a question already on the Web site, it was not answered. Also, the answers were not posted to the front page, which made it difficult for the consumers who asked questions to find the answer. Now we have committed the resources to be far more responsive to the questions we receive, which will be much more helpful to the consumers

In addition, for the first time ACAEF anticipates complementing its public relations efforts for creating awareness of AskDoctorDebt.com with paid advertising/promotion in 2011.
